ADAM CAROLLA’S “ROAD HARD” MOVIE PROJECT
LAUNCHES CAMPAIGN ON FUNDANYTHING.COM
TO RAISE $1 MILLION

Glendale, CA -- Comedian and podcast king Adam Carolla announced today, at a global online press conference, the launch of a $1 million crowd funding campaign on the FundAnything.com platform to raise money for his new movie project “ROAD HARD.”

Adam Carolla writes, directs and stars in the film about the journey of a former standup-turned-sitcom-star who, after the cancellation of his show and a divorce, is forced to go back on the road and perform at the dumpy clubs he played on the way up. In between gigs, he has long days on the road and longer nights in hotels wrestling with the fact that his best days may be behind him, and the question of whether to stay in the game at all. The film is co-written and co-directed with Kevin Hench (THE HAMMER).

“My fans are so loyal and have supported all my other projects – the podcast, my books, and my line of booze, Mangria. I couldn’t imagine making a movie without enlisting them,” said Carolla. “I really want to do this outside of the Hollywood system and the only way to make that happen is with my fans, friends and supporters going to FundAnything.com/adamcarolla and pitching in on the project.”

Fans who make a contribution to the campaign will get PRIZES/Bonuses ranging from an exclusive Road Hard T-shirt, pre-screening of the movie with the cast and crew, a Podcast Party where you can join Adam Carolla at his studio during a live taping, invitations to the wrap party, set visits, and even being an extra in the film!

“We are thrilled that Adam Carolla is launching the fundraising campaign for his huge new movie ‘Road Hard’ on FundAnything,” said Bill Zanker. “With Donald Trump on our side, Adam’s loyal fan base, and the tremendous following we’ve attracted, FundAnything is on its way to becoming the best crowdfunding site for film and entertainment industry leaders who want to raise a lot of money.”

When Carolla learned that his friend and former Celebrity Apprentice “boss” Donald Trump had launched the crowdfunding site, he chose FundAnything over others as the ideal place to raise awareness and funds for his new movie. FundAnything has seen explosive growth since its launch in May 2013, and Carolla’s movie campaign is launching only six weeks after the company’s introduction.

Carolla recently had the world premiere of his “Road Hard” campaign video featuring Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad) on Jimmy Kimmel Live. You can see the full video below. This humorous video quickly went viral, and features Carolla and Cranston discussing the fact that Cranston will NOT be appearing in the movie under any circumstances…

Some of the talented people who do plan to appear in Carolla’s Road Hard movie include: David Alan Grier and Barry Miller.

Dr. Drew #34 on Hollywood Reporter's Reality Power List!

Items 31-40

Dr. Drew Pinsky
Executive producer, lead specialist and star of VH1's "Celebrity Rehab"
For Drew Pinsky, documenting a celebrity's rock bottom carries a far greater purpose than a ratings grab. "We hope viewers have moments where they go, 'There was this show on and I could no longer deny my disease,' " says the L.A.-based M.D. of his popular VH1 addiction series Celebrity Rehab which he co-produces withJohn Irwin. Since Rehab premiered in 2008 (its fifth cycle featuring such patients as Michael Lohan, Sean Young and Amy Fisher just wrapped) and spawned the two-season Sober House, Pinsky says it has "raised awareness and lowered the threshold for people to come and take care of their problems." These problems have inspired Pinsky's monopoly of the oeuvre of substance abuse to include sex addiction (as seen in the one-off VH1 special Sex Rehab With Dr. Drew). He also has delved into teen pregnancy (Pinsky hosts reunion specials for MTV's Teen Mom series) and has the 25-year-old syndicated radio program Loveline, a just-launched HLN talk show and a forthcoming daytime talk show on the CW (with Telepictures) called Life Changers With Dr. Drew slated for September. While the married father of triplets says practicing medicine for 16 hours a day is "10 times harder" than his current media-empire duties, he's never abandoned his professional creed of "first, do no harm." "People who make reality shows generally aren't schooled in medical issues and ethics," he says. "These are things that still weigh profoundly on me."

"Dr. Drew" Debuts on HLN March 28!

http://cnnpressroom.blogs.cnn.com/2011/01/06/dr-drew-debuts-on-hln-march-28-2/

Dr. Drew Debuts on HLN March 28

Dr. Drew, the new HLN primetime program hosted by Dr. Drew Pinsky, will debut on the network on Monday, March 28th at 9 pm ET, it was announced today by Scot Safon, executive vice president, HLN.  Pinsky’s nightly program will focus on the newsmakers at the center of the day’s most-talked-about HLN news stories, focusing on the motivations and issues that drive the “extremely human” behaviors at the core of these events.
“We’ll start with honest discussions and direct questions, and we’ll hear from a wide range of people with diverse perspectives and experiences.   We’ll dig deep to discover what is really going on behind the headlines to get at the real experiences happening to the people involved,” said Pinsky. “There will be resolution to the discussion, and what began as a distant headline will become relevant to the viewers.  At the center of these stories are issues and behaviors worth examining closely, and worth talking about with depth, compassion and insight.”
“There are events and news stories that strike a chord with all Americans, and what Dr. Drew does better than anyone is to focus on the human behaviors of those people in the middle of these events,” said Safon. “This level of discussion and examination in this format does not currently exist on television.  We’re proud to give viewers a chance to see Dr. Drew each night.”
Dr. Drew Pinsky is a practicing physician with a private practice and is on staff at Huntington Memorial Hospital. He is also Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the Keck USC School of Medicine.
Dr. Drew remains the host of the radio show LOVELINE, which is nationally syndicated by Westwood One.  Dr. Drew and Vh1 teamed up for the first reality TV series to depict the process of overcoming addiction. Now in its fourth season, CELEBRITY REHAB with DR. DREW was critically acclaimed by the addiction community for pulling back the veil of secrecy about what goes on in rehabilitation programs. SOBER HOUSE chronicles the sober living process. Dr. Drew is the author of the New York Times bestseller The Mirror Effect:  How Celebrity Narcissism is Seducing America (Harper-Collins) and Cracked: Putting Broken Lives Together Again (Harper-Collins).  Dr. Drew co-authored with Dr. Mark Young the first academic study on celebrities and narcissism.  The study was published in the Journal of Research in Personality (Elsevier) and received worldwide press coverage.
After receiving his undergraduate degree from Amherst College and his M.D. from the University of Southern California, School of Medicine, Dr. Drew continued with USC for his residency.  He then became chief resident at Huntington Hospital in Pasadena.  Dr. Drew is a member of the American College of Physicians, the American Medical Association, the American Society of Addiction Medicine, the California Medical Association and the American Society of Internal Medicine.
HLN is a CNN Worldwide network offered in more than 90 million households in the U.S. CNN Worldwide, a division of Turner Broadcasting System, Inc., a Time Warner Company, is the most trusted source for news and information. Its reach extends to nine cable and satellite television networks; one private place-based network; two radio networks; wireless devices around the world; CNN Digital Network, the No. 1 network of news Web sites in the U.S.; CNN Newsource, the world’s most extensively syndicated news service; and strategic international partnerships within both television and the digital media.

Rachel Uchitel on RumorFix.com

Rachel Uchitel Furious With British Tabloid
POSTED ON NOVEMBER 15, 2010 AT 6:32 PM
The Daily Mail was granted an exclusive interview with Rachel Uchitel and promoted it with this headline:
"I Only Wanted to be Loved: Rachel Uchitel Breaks her Silence on her Affair With Tiger Woods."
If the headline was true, it would mean a huge scoop for the British publication because Rachel was reportedly paid $10 million to keep quiet about Tiger -- too bad the headline isn't true. The deceptive title made Rachel so furious she came to RumorFix to set the record straight.
"I don't appreciate it," the former event planner tells RumorFix exclusively. "I was strictly doing an interview about Celebrity Rehab and nothing else was mentioned."
Even when RumorFix read the story, it appeared to us that Rachel had spoken about the unspeakable:
Rachel Uchitel never set out to be the catalyst for the most spectacular personal and professional downfall of recent times. She never attempted to entrap her man [Tiger Woods] or set him up in a tawdry kiss-and-tell.
"I was there, the reporter took everything out of context," says Rachel's publicist, Valerie Allen. "Rachel never mentioned Tiger Woods' name."
Rachel is furious that a "story taken out of context" would launch a flurry of articles on CNN, Huffington Post and Popeater. Rachel's especially upset that Showbiz Tonight posted a poll asking if visitors "feel sorry" for her.
Rachel says, "I don't need anyone to feel sorry for me. People don't know me -- what would they feel sorry for? This should be a lesson to everyone on how things are taken out of context."
The 35-year-old, who is recovering from what she describes as an addiction to love and prescription drugs, says, "If people want to hear from me watch Celebrity Rehab. It's me for better or for worse."
Rachel adds that she put herself on the VH1 show that launches on December 1 "to be judged," and suggested critics "take a poll after the show!"

Leading Thanksgiving
November 4th, 2010

I must confess, I am happy with November in general. As someone who likes the fall, I can enjoy this time of year: it is the real deal. But, even so, I know November isn’t easy. It’s getting dark early now. There’s a chill. The leaves are falling. The sun may come out to warm us, but it’s like an old friend who can only visit for a short while, and then has to be gone. So we need to find ways to warm ourselves when the sun won’t: dress in layers, light a fire, enjoy candlelight more. The problem is that there’s a lot to do at this time of year, and soon there will be more. So we can’t linger too long by the fire. We need to keep on moving forward. But as you do, you need to pace yourself. Take advantage of whatever illuminates your path. Enjoy the unhurried moments even knowing they won’t last. Maybe make them last a little longer by acknowledging them more explicitly and appreciating them more. In these days that precede Thanksgiving, you need to be authentic to yourself and to the season. Make a real effort to determine what this time of year means ― and does not mean ― for you. If it is a challenging period for you, say: “I am made of true grit. I can handle this by stepping up my game.” And then do what is required.

As anyone who has prepared the holiday meal will attest, Thanksgiving is all in the preparation.

Halloween: Anything Goes by Dr. John Sharp

Halloween: Anything Goes

Sunday, October 24th, 2010

Some of us really love Halloween. Some take a complete pass. Whether or not you like to engage in the festivities, the holiday definitely has a few things to recommend it. To take part, there is no need to travel far away. No need to deal with the extended family. No need to be “yourself” or even some near-version of yourself. No religious observances or rituals or “shoulds” that you have to attend to or figure out how to avoid.
It’s kind-of a festival, its roots in a Celtic celebration of the impending end of the “lighter half” of the year. Over the centuries, it has accumulated all kinds of dissociated elements ― including carved pumpkins, ghostly spirits, costumes, trick-or-treat, parading, watching the parade ― that give it a weird combination of exuberance, irreverence, and irrelevance. Those who look forward to it, think, “Cool. It’s kind of silly. Kind of childish. But why not have some fun with it!” Those who could easily get along without it think, “It’s contrived. It’s a kids-only deal. It’s a pain. Lousy candy. Toilet paper on telephone poles. Maybe I’ll just stay in. Turn off the lights. When the doorbell rings, I won’t answer.”
Even with all that, Halloween is a special time of year. In the deep fall, when the action of business or school or politics has heated up and the temperature has cooled down, Halloween asks us to remember what life was like when we were little and got excited about an event that seemed full of possibility, with a tinge of danger. Who knows what might happen? Halloween ― so unlike the approaching Thanksgiving holiday, with its sense of family and celebrating traditional values ― is all about fantasy, exploration, pushing the edge, doing whatever we want to do. So dive in, dabble, or don’t. Halloween says OK, go ahead, whatever ― give yourself free rein, before the Big Holidays ask a whole lot more of you.
